Poison Perils of Alabama aims to provide essential information about the flora, fauna, and common household items of Alabama. The primary objective of this resource is to increase awareness about the plants, snakes, insects, and household products that generate inquiries to the Alabama Poison Information Center at Children's of Alabama annually. This helpline (1-800-222-1222) serves both children and adults - a unique feature among the services offered by Children's. The Regional Poison Control Center managed over 52,000 calls last year, resulting in more than 40,000 cases addressed with follow-up care exceeding 60,000 calls to ensure proper treatment.

Collaborating with esteemed partners such as Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, the Alabama Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and UAB has enabled us to consolidate this valuable information into a single comprehensive resource for the first time.
